Summary: (from NCBI-Entrez) ..[read more]This gene encodes a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) receptor family of transmembrane serine/threonine kinases. The ligands of this receptor are BMPs, which are members of the TGF-beta superfamily. BMPs are involved in endochondral bone form
Canalis E, et al. (Endocr Rev. 2003)discussed the BMPs and their receptors in the latest rewiew. BMP-2 and BMP-4 are 92% identical in their amino acid sequence. They both bind to type IA and IB receptors.
ten Dijke P,et al. (J Biol Chem. 1994) firstly reported that BMP-4 bound to ALK-3 and ALK-6 efficiently and their results suggest that ALK-3 and ALK-6 are type I receptors for BMP-4.
Modulation of GDF5/BRI-b signalling through interaction with the tyrosine kinase receptor Ror2. Ror2 and BRI-b associate in the presence and absence of GDF5 (Sammar et al. 2004).
