Summary: (from NCBI-Entrez) ..[read more]This gene is a member of the MER/AXL/TYRO3 receptor kinase family and encodes a transmembrane protein with two fibronectin type-III domains, two Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains, and one tyrosine kinase domain. Mutations in this gene have bee
Chen J, et al. (Oncogene. 1997) found that Gas6 was shown to induce rapid phosphorylation of Mer expressed in several different types of cells. We also observed a transient activation of p42 MAP kinase following activation of Mer by Gas6. Thus, Gas6 exerts its biological effects through multiple receptor tyrosine kinases.
